Background
Building on its longstanding work in and on Jerusalem, PASSIA organized this training seminar to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of young Palestinians to successfully engage in digital advocacy, media and public awareness activities against the background of their threatened religious heritage and culture in Jerusalem. The course provided participants with the knowledge, tools and skills to develop and improve Photography Skills for use at local and international levels. This training was part of the "Protecting Islamic and Christian Culture in Jerusalem" project which is jointly implemented by Palestinian Vision Organization, PASSIA and ACT, and funded by the EU.
Program Structure and Content
Intensive Seminar. During the two-day seminar, key issues, concepts and practices of photography were introduced, focusing on the need to protect Palestinian culture and heritage in Jerusalem. The program included:
• What is photography and why?
• Technical and conceptual review of the photos
• Types of photography
• Photo editing skills
• Essential photography techniques
• Post Production
• Legal Aspects of photography
• Social Media Outreach
Note: There was a week gap between Day One and Day Two of the training in order to give the trainees time to employ what they learned and take photos of different heritage sites in Jerusalem (http://passia.org/page/66).
Certificates were awarded to participants who successfully completed the program.
Procedure
Candidates interested in the training seminar had to fill-in the E-application form. Selected participants had to confirm their commitment to full-time participation.
The PASSIA Training Program took place on May 28th and June 4th 2022 in Jerusalem.
