RASHID, HARON HASHIM (1927-)
Born in Gaza in 1927; graduated from Gaza College in 1947; was awarded a Teacher’s Diploma; worked as teacher of Arabic language between 1947-54; was in charge of the Media Dept, in the office of the General Governor of Gaza; became Director of Sawt Al-Arab radio in Gaza in 1954; in 1965, in was put in charge of the PLO Media Dept. and the PLF in the Gaza Strip; after the occupation of Gaza in 1967, worked at the PLO office in Cairo; was one of the founders of the Palestinian Writers’ Union in 1966; became representative of Palestine in various Arab League committees and its permanent delegate at the League; moved to Tunisia in 1979, when the Arab League headquarters were temporarily moved there (until 1990) and continued his work as representative of Palestinian for the Arab League and for the Arab Organization for Culture, Art, and Science; was editor of a number of papers in Gaza and editor-in-chief of the Shu’un ‘Arabiya magazine published by the Arab League in 1980; PNC member; was awarded a number of prizes for his literary works, incl. the First Prize for the Arab Poem by London Radio in 1988; his poem, Sana’oudu Yawman (We Shall Return Someday) was sung by renowned Lebanese singer Fairouz, gaining wide popularity in the Arab world and reflecting the yearning of Palestinian refugees for return.
رشيد، هارون هاشم (1927- ) ولد في مدينة غزة عام 1927؛ تخرج في كلية غزة عام 1947؛ حاز على دبلوم المعلمين وعمل مدرساً للغة العربية في الفترة بين (1954-1947)؛ عمل مسئولاً لدائرة الإعلام في مكتب المحافظ العام لمدينة غزة؛ أصبح مديراً لإذاعة صوت العرب في غزة عام 1954؛ تم تعيينه عام 1965 مسؤولاً لقسم الإعلام لدى منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية وجبهة التحرير الفلسطينية في قطاع غزة؛ عمل في مكتب منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية في القاهرة عقب احتلال غزة عام 1967؛ أحد مؤسسي إتحاد الكتاب الفلسطينيين عام 1966؛ مثّل فلسطين في عدة لجان تابعة لجامعة الدول العربية ومبعوثها الدائم لدى الجامعة العربية؛ انتقل إلى تونس عام 1979 عندما تم نقل مقر جامعة الدول العربية إليها مؤقتاً (حتى عام 1990) واستمر ممثلاً لفلسطين لدى جامعة الدول والمنظمة العربية للتربية والثقافة والعلوم؛ حرر العديد من المقالات في غزة، كما عمل محرراً مسئولاً لمجلة شؤون عربية التي كانت تصدر عن جامعة الدول عام 1980؛ عضو المجلس الوطني الفلسطيني؛ حاز على العديد من الجوائز لأعماله الأدبية، بالإضافة إلى حصوله على الجائزة الأولى للقصيدة العربية من قبل راديو لندن عام 1988؛ تم تلحين قصيدته سنرجع يوما وقامت المطربة اللبنانية الشهيرة فيروز بغنائها وحظيت إثر ذلك بشهرة واسعة معبرة عن حنين اللاجئين الفلسطينيين وإصرارهم على حقهم في العودة الى الوطن.
