RAHEB, MITRI (1962-)

Born in Bethlehem in 1962; grew up in Bethlehem and attended Bethlehem Bible College; studied Protestant Theology at the Hermannsburg Mission Seminary, Germany, from 1980-84, graduating with a BA; continued his studies at Philipps University, Marburg, Germany and received an MA and a PhD in Theology in 1985 and 1988, respectively; returned and became Pastor at the Christmas Lutheran Church in Bethlehem (1988-2003); also worked as Assistant Professor at the Bethlehem Bible College from 1988-93 and as Managing Editor of the Al-Liqa’ Center for Religious and Heritage Studies in the Holy Land, Bethlehem, from 1992-96; founded the International Center of Bethlehem (ICB) in 1995 and serves as its Dir.-Gen. since; founded several other organizations, incl. the Dar Al-Kalima School and Academy (2002) and a Health and Wellness Center (2003); Mission Partner in Residence of the Presbyterian Church, USA, in 2003 and Guest Professor at the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in the same year; received an honorary doctoral degree from Concordia University, Illinois, in 2003; received the Wittenberg Award for contribution to church and society in 2003; author of several books in English and German, incl. I am a Palestinian Christian (Augsburg Fortress, 1995). Bethlehem 2000, Past and Present (Palmyra Publishing, 1998), and Bethlehem Besieged (Augsburg Fortress, 2004); his books have been translated to several languages.

الراهب، متري (1962- ) ولد في مدينة بيت لحم عام 1962؛ نشأ في بيت لحم وانضم إلى كلية الكتاب المقدس؛ حصل على درجة البكالوريوس في اللاهوت البروتستانتي من سمنارية هرمانسبرغ ميشن في ألمانيا عام (1980-1984)، ثم انضم إلى جامعة فيليب س في مدينة ماربورغ الألمانية ليكمل دراسته في علم اللاهوت، فحصل على درجة الماجستير عام 1985 ثم درجة الدكتوراة عام 1988؛ عاد إلى البلاد وأصبح قسيساً في الكنيسة اللوثرية في بيت لحم في الفترة ما بين (1988-2003)؛ شغل منصب أستاذ مساعد في الكلية الإنجيلية في بيت لحم منذ عام 1988 وحتى عام 1993؛ تولى منصب مدير تحرير في مركز اللقاء للدراسات الدينية والتراثية في الأرض المقدسة الكائن في بيت لحم في الفترة ما بين (1992-1996)؛ أسس مركز بيت لحم العالمي عام 1995 وشغل منصب المدير منذ ذلك الوقت؛ شارك في تأسيس مؤسسات ومراكز أخرى كان من ضمنها أكاديمية ومدرسة دار الكلمة عام 2002 ومركز الرعاية الصحية عام 2003؛ أقام في الكنيسة المشيخية في الولايات المتحدة عام 2003 كمشارك في البعثة وأستاذ زائر في سمينارية لويزفيل المشيخية اللاهوتية في العام ذاته؛ حصل على درجة الدكتوراه الفخرية من جامعة كونكورديا في إيللينويس، بالإضافة الى جائزة ويتنبرغ لتعاونه مع الكنيسة والمجتمع عام 2003؛ ألف العديد من الكتب باللغتين الإنجليزية والألمانية، بالإضافة الى كتاب أنا فلسطيني مسيحي (1995)؛ ”الحاضر والمستقبل”- من منشورات بالميرا 1998؛ و “ بيت لحم تحت الحصار-أوغسبورغ فورتس 2004؛ تم ترجمة كتبه إلى عدة لغات.
