ISHAQ, JAD ELIAS (1947-)

Born in Beit Sahour on 8 Jan. 1947; was raised in Beit Sahour; received a BSc in Food Technology from Cairo University, Egypt in 1968; worked as Agricultural Extension Agent, Ramallah, 1968-69; supervisor of Science and Agricultural Education, Directorate of Education, Bethlehem and Jericho, 1971-76; continued meanwhile his studies and earned an MSc in Food Science from Rutgers University in New Jersey in 1974 and a PhD in Biology from the University of East Anglia, UK, in 1978; Associate Professor in the Dept. of Life Sciences at Bethlehem University since 1983; member of the American Association of Plant Physiologists since 1984; member of the Phytochemical Society of Europe since 1985; Board of Trustees member of the Arab Thought Forum since 1986; Dir.-Gen. of the Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem (ARIJ) in Bethlehem since 1991.

ولد في بيت ساحور عام 1947؛ نال درجة البكالوريوس في الهندسة الغذائية من جامعة القاهرة، 1968؛ عمل وكيلاً في مجال المنتجات الزراعية في رام الله 1968 - 1969؛ أشرف على التربية العلمية والزراعية في مديرية التعليم في بيت لحم وأريحا 1971 - 1976؛ أكمل تحصيله الأكاديمي ونال درجة الماجستير في علم الغذاء من جامعة رتجرز في نيو جيرسي عام 1974 ثم نال شهادة الدكتوراه في علم الأحياء من جامعة إيست أنجليا في بريطانيا 1978؛ أستاذ في دائرة العلوم الحياتية في جامعة بيت لحم عام 1983؛ عضو الجمعية الأمريكية لأطباء فيزيولوجيا النباتات منذ عام 1984؛ عضو في جمعية الكيمياء النباتية في أوروبا منذ عام 1985 مدير عام معهد الأبحاث التطبيقية (أريج) في بيت لحم منذ عام 1991
