MURAD, SAID MOHAMMAD (1950-)

Born in Jerusalem in 1958; was member of Al-Kawakeb band in 1972; studied Music Theory and Piano at the Ramallah Institute for Fine Arts from 1973-74; plays numerous (oriental instruments), incl. the Oud, Qanoon, Percussion and Kawala; founded Al-Manar band in Jerusalem in 1979; co-founded the Sabreen Music Group in Jerusalem in 1980 and has been the composer and producer of its music since; trained a children’s musical group, Bidayat, established at Sabreen in 1983; was involved in training the Juthour folk group and the Sanabel singing group at Birzeit University from 1988-91; served as Artistic Director of ‘Al-Quds Al-Sharif Festival’ in East Jerusalem in 1992 and of the Ramallah Summer Nights festival in 1998; was involved in the music production for several Palestinian groups, incl. the Sirriyet Ramallah (First Ramallah) Group, Al-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troupe, Ashtar for Theater Productions and Training, and Al-Kasaba Theater; also composes music for theater (incl. Al-Kasaba and Ashtar), documentaries, and films, incl. Michel Khleifi’s Canticle of the Stones (1990), Alya Arosgly’s This is Not Living (2001), Mohammed Bakri’s Jenin Jenin (2003), Rashid Mashharawi’s Haifa (1996), Upside Down (2000) and Meters Away (2005) and Marc Cayce’s Forbidden Fruits (2005); is the Director of Sabreen Association for Artistic Development and serves on the Board and/or as consultant for many cultural organizations, incl. the Palestinian Association for Contemporary Arts (PACA), Turath Center for Cultural Heritage, and the Ramallah Cultural Palace.

ولد في مدينة القدس عام 1950؛ عضو فرقة الكواكب الفنية عام 1972؛ درس النظريات الموسيقية والبيانو في معهد رام الله للفنون الجميلة من عام 1973 - 1974 ؛ تعلّم العزف على عدة آلات موسيقية مثل العود والقانون؛ أسس فرقة المنار الفنية في القدس عام 1979؛ ساعد في تأسيس مجموعة صابرين الموسيقية في القدس عام 1980 ومؤلف موسيقي ومنتج موسيقي لها منذ ذلك الوقت؛ قام بتدريب مجموعة «بدايات » الموسيقية للأطفال في صابرين عام 1983؛ ساهم في تدريب مجموعة » جسور » الفولكلورية وفرقة «السنابل » للأطفال في جامعة بيرزيت في الأعوام 1988 - 1991 ؛ مدير موسيقي لمهرجان «القدس الشريف » في القدس الشرقية عام 1992 ومهرجان ليالي رام الله عام 1998؛ ساهم في الإنتاج الموسيقي لعدد من الفرق الفلسطينية بما فيها فرقة سرية رام الله الأولى، فرقة الفنون الشعبية الفلسطينية، عشتار للإنتاج الموسيقي والتدريب، ومسرح القصبة؛ ينتج الموسيقى للمسرح والأفلام؛ مدير مؤسسة صابرين للإنتاج الفني وعضو في مجلسها ومستشار لعدد من المؤسسات الثقافية.
