KUTTAB, EILEEN (1959-)

orn in Jerusalem in 1951 to a Palestinian Orthodox Christian family; began a career as social worker at the Pontifical Mission of Palestine in Jerusalem from 1975-76; studied Sociology at the AUB and Birzeit University, graduating with a BA in 1976; worked as Program Coordinator of social and cultural programs for the youth at the YWCA, Jerusalem, from 1976-78; became coordinator of the Student’s Voluntary Work Program at Birzeit University from 1977-78; went to the US and studied at the Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, graduating with an MA in Sociology from Northeastern University in 1981; returned to Palestine and worked as Assistant Professor at Birzeit’s Sociology and Anthropology Dept. from 1981-2003; founding member and coordinator of ‘Our Production is Our Pride’ (a cooperative organization established in conjunction with Birzeit University) from 1985-94; co-founder of the Bisan Center for Research and Development, Ramallah, in 1990 (until 1995); worked as a gender consultant for community projects (1990-96); served as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Al-Haq - Law in the Service of Man, Ramallah, from 1994-97; was a consultant for the UNDP Sustainable Development project on Palestine in 1995-96; Director of the Women Studies Institute at Birzeit University since 1998; member of several local and international organizations, incl. a task force for the Federation of International Training (FIT) Canada (1992-95), the UNDP Palestinian Women Advocacy Group (1992-95), the Women Technical Committee (since 1995), the Social Scientist Network (since Sept. 1999), the National Poverty Commission (Sept. 1999-2001), the Human Development Report Committee on Palestine (since Sept. 1999), a team for accreditation and evaluation of Social Science programs in the Palestinian national colleges and universities (from Sept. 2003-Sept. 2004), and the consultative team for the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (since March 2004); in 2001, was promoted to Assistant Professor (PhD rank) due to her publications; heads a team of researchers to mainstream gender in UNRWA’s programs and activities since Jan. 2005; has widely published on gender and development, incl. her work on the Impact of the Separation Wall on the Palestinian Household (March 2005) and on Internally Displaced Palestinian Refugees: New Forms and Flexible Boundaries (forthcoming, Syracuse University Press House).

كتّاب، ايلين (1951 - ) من مواليد القدس عام 1951 ؛ بدأت عملها كعاملة اجتماعية في بعثة فلسطين البابوية بالقدس خلال الفترة ( 1975-1976)؛ درست علم الاجتماع في الجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت وجامعة بيرزيت وحصلت على شهادة البكالوريوس عام 1976؛ عملت كمنسقة برنامج البرامج الاجتماعية والثقافية للشباب في جمعية الشابات المسيحية بالقدس خلال الفترة (1976-1978)؛ منسقة برنامج العمل التطوعي للطلاب في جامعة بيرزيت خلال الفترة (1977-1978)؛ ذهبت إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية لمتابعة دراساتها العليا في جامعة نورث ايسترن، بوسطن، ولاية ماساتشوستس، ونالت شهادة الماجستير تخصص علم الاجتماع سنة 1981؛ عادت إلى فلسطين وعملت كأستاذة مساعدة في دائرة علم الاجتماع وعلم الإنسان بجامعة بيرزيت خلال الفترة (1981-2003)؛ عضوه مؤسسة ومنسقة «إنتاجنا فخر لنا»، جمعية تعاونية تأسست بالتعاون مع جامعة بيرزيت خلال الفترة(1985-1994) أحد مؤسسي مركز بيسان للبحوث والإنماء برام الله سنة 1990 حتى 1995؛ عملت كمستشارة في قضايا الجندر للمشاريع المجتمعية خلال (1990-1996) رئيسة مجلس أمناء الحق-القانون في خدمة الإنسان، رام الله خلال الفترة (1994-1997)؛ مستشارة لمشروع UNDP Sustainable Development Project خلال (1995-1996)؛ مديرة مركز دراسات المرأة في جامعة بيرزيت منذ عام 1998 عضوه في العديد من المؤسسات المحلية والدولية، بما فيها اتحاد التدريب الدولي كندا (1992-1995)، مجموعة تعبئة المرأة الفلسطينية UNDP Palestinian Women 1992 Advocacy Group 1995 ، طاقم شؤون المرأة منذ عام 1995 (شبكة العلماء الاجتماعيين منذ أيلول/سبتمبر 1999)، لجنة الفقر الوطني (أيلول 1999-2001)، لجنة تقرير فلسطين عن التنمية البشرية (منذ أيلول/سبتمبر 1999)، فريق إقرار وتقييم برامج العلوم الاجتماعية في الكليات والجامعات الوطنية الفلسطينية أيلول/ سبتمبر 2003 – أيلول/ سبتمبر2004 والفريق الاستشاري في وزارة شؤون المرأة الفلسطينية منذ آذار/ مارس 2004؛ في عام 2001، تم ترقيتها إلى رتبة Assistant Professor رتبة دكتورة لمنشوراتها؛ تترأس فريقاً من الباحثين لتوجيه mainstream الجندر في برامج وأنشطة الأونروا منذ يناير 2005؛ نشرت بشكل مكثف عن قضايا الجندر والتنمية، بما فيها عملها عن تأثير الجدار الفاصل على ربات البيوت الفلسطينيات آذار/ مارس 2005 وعن اللاجئين الفلسطينيين المشردين داخلياً: أشكال جديدة وحدود مرنة (في المتناول، جامعة سيراكوز، دار الصحافة).
