MAHMOUD, ABDUL RAHIM (1913-1948)

Born in Anabta in 1913; studied at An-Najah College, Nablus; worked for a while as a policeman under the British Mandate, then resigned and was appointed as teacher at An-Najah College; left his job to participate in the 1936 Revolt; also wrote poems reflecting national sentiments published in different newspapers; left with other Palestinian resistance fighters, incl. Abdul-Qader Al-Husseini, to Iraq, where he joined the Military College; graduated as an Officer; was appointed as a school teacher in Al-Basra, Iraq; returned to Palestine and worked as teacher at An-Najah College until 1947; participated in the Palestinian resistance against Zionist expansionism; was killed in combat in the Al-Shajara battle near Nazareth in 1948; some of his poems were collected after his death and published in 1958.

محمود، عبد الرحيم (1913 - 1948) ولد في عنبتا عام 1913؛ درس في كلية النجاح الوطنية في نابلس؛ عمل لفترة في جهاز الأمن العام في عهد الانتداب البريطاني، ثم انتقل للعمل في كلية النجاح الوطنية؛ ترك عمله للمشاركة في ثورة 1936 ؛ كتب أشعاراً تعبر عن وجدانه الوطني ونشرت في العديد من الصحف؛ انتقل إلى العراق، وانضم إلى الكلية الحربية وتخرج ضابطاً في الجيش لكنه عاد للعمل في التعليم أستاذاً في كلية في كلية النجاح الوطنية في نابلس حتى 1947؛ شارك في المقاومة الفلسطينية؛ استشهد في المعركة الشهيرة المعروفة «معركة الشجرة » بالقرب من الناصرة عام 1948 ؛ تم جمع ونشر بعض أشعاره عام 1958.
