ADDRESSING THE CHALLENGE OF SCHOOL DROPOUTS IN EAST JERUSALEM
INTRODUCTION
Youth living in Jerusalem are more socioeconomically and politically vulnerable due to unemployment, inappropriate housing conditions, demolition of houses, easier access to the
unofficial Israeli market, political violence practiced by Israeli settlers and soldiers, and lack
of protective polices and measures – all of which leads not only to high levels of frustration
but also contributes to the high numbers of school dropouts.
