AL-BITAR, HANIA (1967-)

Born in Jerusalem 1967; received her BA in English Literature and Translation from Bethlehem University, and MA in American Literature from the Catholic University of America; worked as an English lecturer at Bethlehem University, then was the managing director for the weekly “The Jerusalem Times”; established PYALARA in 1999— Palestinian Media Authority and activating the role of youth—where she was the general manager; in 2005, she established with a group of leading women the International Women's Committee for a Just and Sustainable Peace between Palestinians and Israelis; candidate for the PLC for the “Nationalist list: third way”—headed by Salam Fayyad; serves as the vice president at the Center for Democracy and Workers' Rights, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab American University in Jenin, member of the board of trustees of both "Miftah" and "Faten", and member of of the Board of Directors of the Women's Center for Legal and Social Counseling; serves as a member of the United Nations Women's Consultative Group on Civil Society, and the Deputy Director of the Network of Palestinian National Institutions; nominated for prizes including "Global Leader of Tomorrow" and "Young Arab Leaders"; wrote a number of articles and has been an official speaker at a number of international conferences.

البيطار، هانيا (1967- ) ولدت في القدس عام 1967؛ وحصلت على شهادتها البكالوريوس في الأدب الإنجليزي والترجمة من جامعة بيت لحم، ثم الماجستير في الأدب الأمريكي باللغة الإنجليزية من الجامعة الكاثوليكية الأمريكية؛ عمات كمعلمة للغة الإنجليزية بجامعة بيت لحم، ثم شغلت منصب المديرة الإدارية لصحيفة القدس تايمز " The Jerusalem Times " الأسبوعية؛ أسست في عام 1999 "بيالارا" الهيئة الفلسطينية للإعلام وتفعيل دور الشباب حيث عملت مدير عام؛ أنشأت في عام 2005 ومجموعة من القيادات النسائية اللجنة الدولية للمرأة من أجل سلام عادل ومستدام بين الفلسطينيين والإسرائيليين؛ ترشحت للمجلس التشريعي الفلسطيني في القائمة الوطنية "الطريق الثالث" التي يرأسها سلام فياض و لم يحالفها الحظ؛ تعمل اليوم نائباً لرئيس الجامعة في في مركز الديمقراطية وحقوق العمال، وهي عضو في مجلس أمناء الجامعة العربية الأمريكية جنين، وعضو مجلس أمناء في كل من "مفتاح" و"فاتن"، وعضو مجلس إدارة في مركز المرأة للارشاد القانوني والاجتماعي؛ تخدم عضوا في المجموعة الاستشارية للمجتمع المدني للنساء التابعة للأمم المتحدة، ونائب مدير شبكة المؤسسات الوطنية الفلسطينية؛ ترشحت لجوائز منها "القائد العالمي للغد" و"القيادات العربية الشابة"؛ ألفت عددا من المقالات، وكانت المتحدثة الرسمية في عدد من المؤتمرات الدولية.
