ZALATIMO, DAOUD (1906-2001)
Born in Jerusalem in 1906; studied at the Teachers’ College in Jerusalem and in Haifa during the British Mandate times; undertook art courses in the UK; worked as teacher of art in different schools and as inspector for art education in the Jordanian Ministry of Education, where he was influential in instituting an art curriculum; served as inspector for handicraft education; became art consultant for UNESCO in Libya; his paintings – especially those of Jerusalem landscapes – inspired many artists; some of his works were lost during an exhibition that took place in Lydda on the same day the city fell to the Israeli army on 11 July 1948; died in 2001.

درس في كلية المعلمين في القدس و حيفا في عهد الإنتداب البريطاني؛ أجرى دورات فنية في المملكة المتحدة؛ عمل مدرساً للفن في مدارس مختلفة و كمفتش للتعليم الفني في وزارة التربية و التعليم الأردنية؛ حيث كان مؤثرا في تأسيس منهاج فني؛ خدم كمفتش للتعليم الحرف اليدوية؛ أصبح مستشارا فنيا لشركة اليونسكو في ليبيا؛ كانت لوحاته - خاصة تلك الخاصة بالمناظر الطبيعية في القدس- مصدر الهام للعديد من الفنانين؛ فقد بعد أعماله خلال معرض أقيم في اللد في نفس اليوم الذي سقطت فيه المدينة للجيش الإسرائلي في ١١ يوليو 1948؛ توفي في عام ٢٠٠١.
