ZAQTAN, GHASSAN (1954-)

Born in Beit Jala in 1954; joined the UNRWA Teachers’ Institute in Amman, Jordan and graduated in 1973; became Director of the cultural section of Al-Hurriyah (a magazine published in Beirut and later in Damascus); then served as Managing Editor of Bayader magazine, published by the PLO in Tunisia (whose Executive Editor was Ahmad Dahbour); after his return to Palestine, he became director of Masharef magazine, whose editor-in-chief was Emile Habibi; then editor-in-chief of Al-Shu’ara’ (The Poets), a literary periodical published in Ramallah; also works as poet and novelist; his collections include Rayat (Cyprus, 1984); was awarded the poetry prize by the Jordanian Writers Union in 1977; editor of the cultural page in Al-Ayyam newspaper, Ramallah.

زقطان، غسان ( 1954 - ) ولد في بيت جالا عام 1954 ؛ انتسب إلى معهد المعلمين التابعة لوكالة الغوث في عمان، الأردن وتخرج عام 1973؛ عمل في مجالات التعليم والصحافة؛ محرر ثقافي في مجلة الحرية (التي كانت تصدر في بيروت ثم دمشق)؛ مدير تحرير مجلة بيادر التي كانت تنشرها منظمة التحرير في تونس (وكان رئيس تحريرها أهمد دحبور)؛ عمل بعد عودته إلى فلسطين في مجلة مشارف التي كان رئيس تحريرها إميل حبيبي؛ رئيس تحرير مجلة الشعراء الأدبية الصادرة في رام الله؛ يعتبر روائياً وشاعراً؛ من بين مجموعاته الشعرية رايات (قبرص، 1984 )؛ حصل على جائزة الشعر من اتحاد الكتاب الأردنيين عام 1977 ؛ محرر الصفحة الثقافية في جريدة الأيام في رام الله.
