SHBAIR, ABDUL KARIM (1959-)
Born in Khan Younis on 27 June 1959; graduated from High School in Khan Younis in 1978; received a Licentiate in Law from Al-Mansoura University in Egypt in 1983; returned and opened his own law offices in Gaza City and in Khan Younis; is a member of the Palestine Bar Association since 1983; volunteered as a lawyer for political prisoners in Israeli jails; prepared a detailed study (23 volumes) about Israeli military orders and rulings in the Gaza Strip from 1967-94; continued his studies and received an MA in International Law from the American World University in 1996; is a member of the Egyptian Bar Association since 2002; earned a PhD in International Law (via distance learning) from the University of Juba in Sudan in 2003; is affiliated as lecturer at the Gaza Community Mental Health Program; following the death of Pres. Yasser Arafat, nominated himself as independent (Islamic) candidate for the post of PA Pres. for the 2005 presidential elections (in which he received 0.86%of the vote); campaigned for the right of return and promoted the continuation of the armed Intifada, saying the militant groups are the only defense for the Palestinians.
شبير، عبد الكريم ( 1959 - ) من مواليد خان يونس في غزة عام 1959؛ خريج المدرسة الثانوية في خان يونس عام 1978؛ حاصل على ليسانس في الحقوق من جامعة المنصورة في مصر عام 1983؛ عاد لفلسطين ومارس مهنة المحاماة في مدينة غزة وخان يونس؛ عضو نقابة المحاميين الفلسطينيين منذ عام 1983؛ تطوع كمحام للسجناء السياسيين في السجون الإسرائيلية؛ أعد ونشر دراسة مفصلة (مكونة من 23 مجلداً) عن الأوامر والأحكام العسكرية الإسرائيلية خلال السنوات (1967-1994)؛ تابع دراسته العليا وحصل على شهادة الماجستير في القانون الدولي من الجامعة الدولية الأميركية عام 1996؛ عضو نقابة المحاميين المصريين منذ عام 2002؛ حاز على شهادة الدكتوراه في القانون الدولي (عن طريق الدراسة عن بعد) من جامعة جوبا في السودان عام 2003؛ منتسب كمحاضر في برنامج غزة للصحة النفسية؛ بعد وفاة الرئيس ياسر عرفات رشح نفسه كمرشح مستقل لمنصب رئيس السلطة الوطنية الفلسطينية في الانتخابات الرئاسية التي جرت عام 2005 (حيث حصل على 0.86 % من مجموع الأصوات).
