AL-SHAER, NASSER EDDIN (1961-)

Born in Sebastia, Nablus, on 9 Dec. 1961; received a BA (1985) and an MA (1989) from the Dept. of Islamic Studies, An-Najah University, Nablus; was elected Pres. of the Student Council at An-Najah from 1980-81; worked as a lecturer at An-Najah from 1989-90; continued his studies and earned a PhD in Middle Eastern Studies from Manchester University, UK, in 1996; returned and became an Associate Professor of Islamic Studies at An-Najah University and a part-time lecturer at Al-Quds Open University; co-founded a health center in Sebastia in 1996; participated in a special program on religion at New York University, US, in 1998; became Dean of the Faculty of Shari’a at An-Najah University; was a Steering Committee member of An-Najah University’s Workers League from 1997-2001; served as member of the Planning and Development Committee of An-Najah University from 1998-2001; was elected Chairman of the Consumer Society (Jam’iya ta’awuniya Istihlakiya) at An-Najah; also lectures in training programs and workshops on issues related to Islam, women, youth and family services; has published numerous papers on globalization, identity, Islamic culture, incl. The Palestinian-Israeli Peace Process (1999), as well as a book on domestic violence against women from an Islamic Shari’a point of view; following the PLC 2006 elections, was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education by the Ismail Haniyeh Government.

الشاعر، ناصر الدين (1961- ) ولد في سبسطية قرب نابلس عام 1961؛ حصل على شهادة البكالوريوس (1985) والماجستير (1989) من قسم الدراسات الإسلامية، جامعة النجاح، نابلس؛ انتخب رئيساً لمجلس الطلبة في جامعة النجاح الوطنية من (1989-1990)؛ أكمل دراسته وحصل على شهادة الدكتوراه في دراسات الشرق الأوسط من جامعة مانشستر، انجلترا، في 1996؛ عمل أستاذاً مساعداً في الدراسات الإسلامية في جامعة النجاح ومحاضراً في جامعة القدس المفتوحة؛ شارك في تأسيس مركز صحّي في سبسطية في 1996؛ شارك في برنامج خاص عن الدراسات الدينية في جامعة نيويورك، الولايات المتحدة، في 1998؛ أصبح عميد كلية الشريعة في جامعة النجاح؛ عضو في لجنة التطوير والتخطيط في جامعة النجاح من (2001-1998)؛ انتخب كرئيس الجمعية التعاونية الاستهلاكية في جامعة النجاح؛ أيضاً حاضر في برامج التدريب والحلقات الدراسية الحرة في قضايا متعلقة في الإسلام، والمرأة، وخدمات الشاب والعائلة؛ نشر العديد المقالات حول العولمة، والهوية، والثقافة الإسلامية، منها عملية السلام الفلسطينية الإسرائيلية (1999)، وكذلك كتاب عن العنف الوطني ضد المرأة من وجهة نظر الشريعة الإسلامية، عين نائباً لرئيس الوزراء ووزير التربية والتعليم العالي في الحكومة الفلسطينية عام 2006؛ اعتقلته سلطات الاحتلال في 19 آب (أغسطس) 2006.
