SHADID, MOHAMMED (1944-)

Born in Dura, near Hebron, on 15 March 1944; received a BSc in Natural Sciences from the Eastern Mennonite College, Harrisonburg, Virginia, in 1968; worked as Assistant Professor of Political Science at Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina, from 1973-77; continued his studies and earned an MPhil (1976) and PhD (1979) in Political Science from George Washington University, Washington, DC; during 1978-79, was a Visiting Lecturer at Howard University, Washington, DC; was Associate Professor of Political Science at Shaw University from 1979-80; returned to Palestine and became Associate Professor in the Political Science Dept. at An-Najah National University, Nablus, from 1980-87; served as the Dept.’s Chairman from 1980-84; also was a member of the University’s Faculty Promotion Committee from 1984-87; joined the Welfare Association in Geneva in 1987, first as Director of Research and Documentation (1987-88), then as Director of Research and Evaluation (1989-92), Managing Director of CDC (the field arm institution in Palestine of the Welfare Association) and Director of Field Operations (1992-97), PMO Director of the Welfare Association Consortium managing the World Bank-funded PNGO Project (1997-2006), and Deputy Dir.-Gen. for Operations (March 2003-2006); also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Palestinian Housing Council from 1994-99); was a co-founder and advisor to various institutions; member of the Board of Directors of the Palestinian Housing Council since 1994, and of the Palestinian Legal Aid and Human Rights Center; Board of Trustees member of Hebron University, Al-Karmel Literary Journal, Shaml - the Palestinian Refugee and Diaspora Center, and the Jerusalem Welfare and Development Society; also member of the Palestinian Council for Higher Education from 1994-97; has authored numerous essays, articles and studies, as well as The United States and the Palestinians. Between Accommodation and Liquidation (New York: 1981; Jerusalem, 1983).

شديد، محمد (1944- ) ولد في دورا قرب الخليل عام 1944؛ حصل على شهادة البكالوريوس في العلوم الطبيعية من كلية المانونيت الشرقية، في فرجينيا في الولايات المتحدة في 1968؛ عمل كأستاذ مشارك في العلوم السياسية في جامعة نورث كارولينا، من (1973-1977)؛ حصل على شهادة الماجستير (1976) وشهادة الدكتوراه (1979) في العلوم السياسية من جامعة جورج واشنطن في واشنطن العاصمة؛ خلال (1978-1979)، عمل أستاذاً في العلوم السياسية في جامعة شو من (1979-1980) عاد إلى فلسطين وأصبح أستاذاً في قسم العلوم السياسية في جامعة النجاح الوطنية، نابلس، من (1980-1987)؛ انضم إلى مؤسسة التعاون الفلسطينية ومقرها جنيف/ سويسرا في 1987؛ عمل أيضاً كرئيس مجلس الإسكان الفلسطيني من (1994-1999)؛ عضو في مركز حقوق الإنسان وإعانة القانون الفلسطيني؛ عضو مجلس أمناء جامعة الخليل، الكرمل صحيفة الأدب، شمل- مركز الشتات و اللاجئين الفلسطينيين، ومجتمع التطور والخير المقدسي؛ ألف عدة مواضيع، ومقالات، ودراسات، منها الولايات المتحدة والفلسطينيين: بين التسوية وتسديد الديون (نيويورك: القدس، 1983).
