SAMARA, ADNAN (1941-)

Born in Jerusalem in 1941; received a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Munich University, Germany, in 1969; served as Chairman of the Scientific Dept. of Fateh and the PLO; was appointed PA Deputy Minister of Industry in 1994, serving in that post until 1999; also acted as supervisor in the PLO’s Scientific Research Dept. from 1995; Deputy Undersecretary of the Fateh Revolutionary Council since 1999; member of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils and of the Arab Federation for Technical Education, both based in Baghdad; member of the General Union of Palestinian Engineers (also serving as its Director for PR); member of the Exec. Office of the Arab Engineers’ Union (and its previous Chairman); member of the International Engineers’ Union; serves on the Board of Trustees of An-Najah University and the Advisory Board of Al-Quds Open University; was named to the Fateh delegation to the 2003 dialogue between the Palestinian factions in Cairo and has subsequently participated in intra-Palestinian meetings.

سمارة، عدنان (1941- ) ولد في القدس في عام 1941؛ حصل على دبلوم في الهندسة الميكانيكية من جامعة ميونخ، ألمانيا، عام 1969؛ عمل كمسؤول في قسم العلوم التابع لحركة فتح و منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية؛ عين نائب وزير الصناعة للسلطة الفلسطينية عام 1994 حتى 1999؛ كما عمل كمرشد في قسم الأبحاث التابع لمنظمات التحرير الفلسطينية من عام 1995؛ نائب سكرتير للمجلس الثوري لفتح عام 1999؛ عضو في اتحاد لجنة الأبحاث العربية للعلوم و اتحاد العرب للتعليم الفني، مقرهما في بغداد؛ عضو في الاتحاد العام للهندسة الفلسطينية (كما عمل كرئيس العلاقات العامة)؛ عضو في المكتب التنفيذي لاتحاد المهندسين العرب (و مسؤولها السابق)؛ عضو في اتحاد المهندسين العالميين؛ عضو مجلس أمناء لجامعة النجاح و مستشار جامعة القدس المفتوحة.
