SALHOUT, JAMIL HUSSEIN (1949-)

Born in Jerusalem on 5 June 1949; received a degree in Arabic Language from Beirut Arab College; was arrested by the Israeli authorities in March 1969 and detained for nearly a year; worked as journalist and editor of Al-Fajr newspaper from 1975-76; then became an Arabic Language teacher at Ar-Rashidiyyah Secondary School in Jerusalem from 1977-90; also worked as editor of Al-Kateb (the Writer) magazine from 1981-91; was among the founders of the Union of Palestinian Writers and member of its Exec. Board; also co-founder of the Union of Palestinian Journalists; Board of Trustees member of the Palestinian National Theater and Al-Kasaba Theater in Jerusalem; works as head of the PR at the Governorate Jerusalem / Abu Dis; Director of Board of Directors of the Jerusalem Center for Democracy and Human Rights; has written numerous articles, reports and books on Palestinian folklore, theater and politics, incl. Social And Economic Changes In Arab Al-Sawahreh Village (Arabic, 1986), Al-Qada Al-Asha’iri (Clan Law) (1987), The Suffering of Children Under Occupation (co-authored, 2002).

سلحوت، جميل حسين (1949- ) ولد في القدس عام 1949؛ حصل على شهادة في اللغة العربية من جامعة بيروت العربية؛ اعتقل من قبل السلطات الإسرائيلية في آذار/ مارس عام 1969؛ عمل كصحفي ومحرر جريدة الفجر من عام (1975-1976) ثم أصبح معلماً للغة العربية في مدرسة الرشيدية الثانوية في القدس من عام (1977-1990)؛ عمل محرراً لمجلة الكاتب من عام (1981-1991)؛ كان من بين مؤسسي اتحاد الكتاب الفلسطينيين وعضو في هيئته التنفيذية؛ شارك في تاسيس اتحاد الصحافة الفلسطينية؛ عضو هيئة أمناء للمسرح الوطني الفلسطيني ومسرح القصبة في القدس؛ عمل كرئيس في العلاقات العامة لمحافظة القدس/ أبو ديس؛ مدير الهيئة الرئاسية في مركز القدس للديمقراطية وحقوق الانسان كتب العديد من المقالات، التقارير وكتب عن الفلوكلور الفلسطيني، المسرح والسياسة، تشمل التغيرات الاجتماعية والاقتصاديه في قرية السواحرة العربية (عربي، 1986)، القادة العشائرية (قانون العشيرة) (1987)، معاناة الأطفال بسبب الاحتلال (شارك في الكتابة 2002).
