DAOU’DI, AZIZ (1890-1956)

Born in Jerusalem in 1890; was educated in Turkish schools during the Ottoman times; worked as a court clerk in the Central Court and the Court of Appeals, then - during WWI - as head of clerks; moved to the military administration in Jerusalem; was appointed a Judge in the Ramleh Court and later in the District Court of Nablus and Jaffa; one of the famous cases he dealt with was the land property of the late Sultan Abdul Hamid in Palestine; was considered as one of the experts on land issues; his publications are considered major references on early land issues in Palestine; one of the weightiest Arab judges in Palestine during his times; an unsurpassed advocate of many Arab projects for social work; was appointed member of the Jordanian House of Representatives, succeeding Omar Al-Saleh Al-Barghouthi on 16 Dec. 1954; died in April 1956.

من مواليد القدس عام 1890 ؛ تلقى تعليمه في المدارس التركية إبان العهد العثماني؛ عمل موظفاً في المحكمة المركزية ومحكمة الاستئناف؛ انتقل إلى الإدارة العسكرية في القدس؛ تم تعيينه قاضياً في محكمة الرملة ثم في المحكمة اللوائية في نابلس ويافا؛ من بين القضايا الهامة التي تولى مسؤوليتها، تقرير ملكية أراضي السلطان عبد الحميد في فلسطين؛ اعتبر من أبرز الخبراء في قضايا الأراضي في فلسطين؛ تعتبر كتاباته مراجعاً رئيسيةً حول قضايا الأراضي في فلسطين؛ تم تعيينه عضواً في مجلس الأعيان الأردني، تولى الكثير من القضايا كخبير أراضي، توفي عام 1956 في عمان
