HOURANI, MOHAMMED ABDEL FATTAH (1961-)

Born in Hebron on 31 Aug. 1961; studied in Bulgaria and received a BA and an MA in Sociology; was repeatedly arrested and imprisoned by the Israeli authorities and spent a total of eight years in Israeli jails; member of the Fateh Higher Committee in the West Bank; member of the Fateh Revolutionary Council; was placed three times under administrative detention in the first Intifada for his political activities, the last time for six months in Jan. 1992, when he was due to leave for Washington as a member of the Palestinian delegation to the peace talks; was elected PLC member (Fateh) for the Hebron District in the Jan. 1996 elections; served as member of its Legal and Political Committees until the Jan. 2006 PLC elections; was among the negotiators and signatories of the Geneva Accords in Dec. 2003.

ولد في مدينة الخليل عام 1961؛ درس في بلغاريا وحصل على شهادة البكالوريوس والماجستير في علم الاجتماع؛ قامت السلطات الإسرائيلية باعتقاله وسجنه عدة مرات وقضى ما مجموعه ثماني سنوات في السجون الإسرائيلية؛ عضو في اللجنة العليا لحركة فتح في الضفة الغربية؛ عضو المجلس الثوري لحركة فتح؛ وضعته السلطات الإسرائيلية ثلاث مرات تحت الاعتقال الإداري في الانتفاضة الأولى بسبب نشاطاته السياسية، آخر مرة لمدة ستة أشهر في كانون الثاني/ يناير عام 1992 عندما كان على وشك السفر إلى واشنطن كعضو في الوفد الفلسطيني في مباحثات السلام؛ انتخب عضواً في المجلس التشريعي الفلسطيني عن حركة فتح لمنطقة الخليل في الانتخابات التشريعية عام 1996؛ عضو في لجان المجلس القانونية والسياسية.
