MUGHRABI, FUAD (1942-)

Born in Ein Kerem, Jerusalem, in 1942; fled with his family to Bethlehem in the course of the 1948 Nakba; moved to the US in 1960 and enrolled at Duke University, from where he received a BA in Political Science and Economics in 1964 and an MA in 1965; joined the Department of Political Science at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), in 1969, focusing his research on American policy towards the Middle East, American public opinion, the Palestine Question and the Middle East; earned a PhD in Political Science from the University of Grenoble, France, in 1972; Professor of Political Science and Middle East Affairs at UTC; was a Fulbright Visiting Professor at Birzeit University from 1995-1996; has served as a member of various study groups on the Middle East convened by the Brookings Institution and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; Director of the A.M. Qattan Foundation for Educational Research and Development, Ramallah since 1998; Advisory Board member of the Council for the Council for Palestinian Restitution and Repatriation (CPRR); visiting Professor at the AUC in April 2002; was appointed Head of the Dept. of Political Science, Public Administration, and Nonprofit Management at UTC in summer 2004; has written numerous articles and essays and (co)authored/edited several books, incl. Lebanon: Crisis and Challenge in the Arab World (1977), American Public Opinion and the Palestine Question (1986), and Public Opinion and the Palestine Question (1987).

ولد في عين كارم، القدس، في عام 1942 ؛ هرب مع عائلته إلى بيت لحم خلال أحداث النكبة الفلسطينية 1948 ؛ ثم انتقل إلى الولايات المتحدة عام 1960 والتحق بجامعة ديوك، حيث حصل على شهادة البكالوريوس في العلوم السياسية و الاقتصاد في 1964 و على شهادة الماجستير عام 1965؛ انضم إلى قسم العلوم السياسية في جامعة تينيسي في تشاتانوغا، عام 1969، ركز في بحثه على السياسة الأمريكية تجاه الشرق الأوسط، رأي الجمهور الأمريكي، المسألة الفلسطينية و الشرق الأوسط؛ حصل على رسالة الدكتوراه في العلوم السياسية من جامعة جرينوبل، فرنسا، عام 1972؛ بروفسور في العلوم السياسية ودراسات شؤون الشرق الأوسط في جامعة تينيسي في تشاتانوغا؛ كان بروفسور زائر في جامعة بيرزيت من 1995 - 1996؛ خدم كعضو في مجموعات دراسة مختلفة للشرق الأوسط عقدت من قبل مؤسسة بروكلينز و الأكاديمية الأمريكية للفنون و العلوم؛ مدير مؤسسة قطان للبحث و التطور التعليمي، رام الله منذ 1998؛ عضو في الهيئة الاستشارية للمجلس الوطني في قضايا تعويض وإرجاع اللاجئين الفلسطينيين؛ بروفسور زائر في الجامعة الأمريكية في القاهرة في نيسان/أبريل 2002؛ تم تعيينه مدير قسم العلوم السياسية، إدارة الجمهور، والإدارة الغير تجارية في جامعة تينيسي في تشاتانوغا في صيف 2004؛ كتب العديد من المقالات والمواضيع و ألف /حرر العديد من الكتب، منها لبنان: المصائب و التحديات في العالم العربي 1977، رأي الشعب الأمريكي والمعضلة الفلسطينية 1986، ورأي الشعب و المعضلة الفلسطينية 1987.
