KANA'AN, TAYSIR RUSHDI (1925-)

Born in Nablus in 1925; attended high school at Najah College in Nablus and also received the British Matriculation of Palestine; graduated with a BA from the Palestinian Law School; served in the Ministry of Justice; was appointed judge in the District Court of Jerusalem in 1963 and served in the post until 1967, when all Palestinians in courts refused to work under the rule of Israeli occupation; was a member of the Islamic Higher Committee between 1967-80; became a judge in the High Court in Amman, serving from 1985-89; then opened his own his law office in Amman and practiced from 1989-91; was appointed as Minister of Justice in Jordan in 1991; worked as lawyer and consultant with various international organizations in Amman from 1992-2006; involved with a number of Palestinian NGOs, incl. serving as member of the Board of Trustees of Dal Al-Awlad School, the Orphan Arab Committee, and the Scientific Technology College in Jerusalem.

ولد في نابلس في 1925 ؛ التحق بكلية النجاح الوطنية في نابلس وأنهى تعليمه الثانوي بالإضافة إلى شهادة الثانوية العامة البريطانية من فلسطين؛ حصل على درجة البكالوريوس من معهد الحقوق الفلسطيني بالقدس؛ عمل في وزارة العدل؛ عين قاضياً في محكمة بداية القدس عام 1963 ثم رئيساً لمحكمة البداية حتى الاحتلال الإسرائيلي عام 1967 ، انضم إلى «اضراب القضاة والمحامين »؛ عضو في الهيئة الإسلامية العليا من 1967 - 1980 ؛ انتقل إلى عمان وعمل قاضياً في محكمة التمييز العليا من 1985 - 1989 ؛ ثم افتتح مكتب للمحاماة في عمان من 1989 - 1991 ؛ عمل كمحام ومستشار لعدة منظمات دولية في عمان من 1992 - 2006 ؛ عضو في العديد من المنظمات الفلسطينية الغير حكومية، من ضمنها، عضو مجلس أمناء مدرسة دار الأولاد في حي واد الجوز في القدس، ولجنة اليتيم العربي، وكلية العلوم التكنولوجيا في القدس .
