MATAR, IBRAHIM (1941-)

Born in Jerusalem in 1941 to a Christian family; was and raised in Jerusalem; received a BA in Business Administration from the AUB in 1964, and an MA in Economics from Indiana University, US, in 1966; also took courses in Harvard University, US, and Reading University, UK; after 1967, worked as supervisor for community development projects in the West Bank for the Lutheran World Federation; helped establishing Bethlehem University in 1973, served as member of its Executive Committee and later as Chairman of the Dept. of Business and Economics; worked as Director of Rural Development at the Mennonite Central Committee in Jerusalem from 1976-97; was among the founders of the first non-profit credit company, the Arab Development and Credit Company (ADCC) in 1986 (which later merged into the Palestinian Banking Corporation); Deputy Director of the American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) from 1985-97; was a Hubert Humphrey Fellow at Davis University, California, in 1987; since 1997, works as financial and economic consultant to the Development Cooperation Office of the Italian Government and the Italian Consulate in Jerusalem; has written numerous articles and studies on issues related to Jerusalem, Israel’s settlement policy, and development.

ولد في القدس في عام 1941 ونشأ فيها؛ حصل على شهادة البكالوريوس في إدارة الأعمال من الجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت في عام 1964 ، وعلى شهادة الماجستير في الاقتصاد من جامعة إنديانا في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في 1966 ؛ بعد 1967 ، عمل مشرفاً في مشاريع تطوير المجتمع في الضفة الغربية التابع للاتحاد العالمي اللوثري؛ عمل عضواً في اللجنة التنفيذية ولاحقاً رئيساً لقسم إدارة الأعمال والاقتصاد في جامعة بيت لحم عام 1973 ؛ عمل مديراً للتنمية الريفية في لجنة مينونايت المركزية ) M ennonite ( في القدس من 1976 - 1997 ؛ كان من بين المؤسسين لأول شركة ائتمان غير ربحية، شركة الائتمان والتطوير العربي ) ADCC ( في 1986 )والتي اندمجت لاحقاً في المؤسسة المصرفية الفلسطينية(؛ نائب مدير مؤسسة أنيرا الأمريكية لمساعدة اللاجئين في الشرق الأدنى ANERA( ( من 1985 - 1997 ؛ عمل مستشاراً اقتصادياً ومالياً لمكتب تنمية التعاون في الحكومة الإيطالية والقنصلية الإيطالية في القدس عامي 2005 - 2006 ؛ كتب العديد من المقالات والدراسات في قضايا مرتبطة بالقدس، وسياسات الاستيطان الإسرائيلي، والتنمية .
