KHALIL, AHMED TAWFIQ (1914-1985)

Born in Haifa on 17 May 1914; studied at the AUB, graduating with a BSc in 1934; went to England to continue his studies and received a BA in Political Science from Cambridge University in 1939, as well as an MS in 1942; later studied Law at Cambridge (LLM); returned to Palestine and was appointed by the British as Magistrate and Registrar in the Haifa district in 1940, and later as Head of District Judges in Palestine, a post he held until 1948; during the 1950s under Jordanian rule, was appointed military governor of Nablus and Administrative Governor for the West Bank; in the early 1960s, traveled to Amman and established his own law office; became a judge at the Court of Appeal and served as a member of the Jordanian Upper House of Parliament from 1972; died in 1985

خليل، احمد توفيق (1914 - 1985) ولد في مدينة حيفا عام 1914؛ التحق بالجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت وحصل على شهادة البكالوريوس عام 1934؛ ذهب إلى انجلترا لإكمال دراسته ونال شهادة البكالوريوس في العلوم السياسية من جامعة كامبردج عام 1939، وشهادة الماجستير عام 1942؛ثم درس القانون في جامعة كامبردج؛ عاد إلى فلسطين وعينته سلطات الانتداب البريطاني قاضياً ومسجل في منطقة حيفا عام 1940، ثم كرئيس للنيابة العامة في فلسطين حتى عام 1948؛ في الخمسينات عين حاكماً عسكرياً لمدينة نابلس ومحافظاً إدارياً للضفة الغربية؛ في أوائل الستينات، انتقل إلى عمان وأسس مكتب محاماة خاص به؛ عين قاضياً في محكمة الاستئناف العليا في عمان ثم عين عضواً في مجلس الأعيان الأردني في عام 1972؛ توفي عام 1985.
