AL-KHALILI, ALI (1943-2013)

Born in Al-Yasmineh, Nablus, on 3 Jan. 1943; received a BA in Business Administration from the Arab University of Beirut in 1966; worked as a teacher in Palestine and Saudi Arabia until 1969, then as journalist in Lebanon and Libya; served as editor-in-chief of Al-Fajr newspaper and Dir.-Gen. of Al-Fajr’s Literary Journal from 1977; founding member of the Palestinian Writers and Journalists Union in the West Bank; prolific writer, focusing on folkloric-inspired essays and novels; has published over 30 poetry volumes and other books, incl., Dialectic of the Homeland (Beirut, 1976), Songs of Work and Workers in Palestine (Beirut, 1977), The Palestinian Hero in the Folkloric Tale (1979) and most recently Al-Bashar Al-Manadil about the language of domination and resistance under the current world order of globalization and Israeli occupation (Acre, 2004); acts as Managing Editor of the Palestinian weekly The Jerusalem Times; Deputy Assistant, Palestinian Ministry of Culture. Died on October 2nd, 2013.

الخليلي، علي (1943 - 2013) ولد في نابلس في أشهر أحيائها – الياسمينة عام 1943؛ حاصل على شهادة البكالوريوس في إدارة الأعمال من الجامعة العربية ببيروت عام 1966؛ عمل مدرساً في فلسطين والمملكة العربية السعودية حتى عام 1969، ثم صحافياً في لبنان وليبيا؛ تولى رئاسة تحرير صحيفة الفجر ومدير عام مجلة الفجر الأدبية عام 1977؛ عضو مؤسس اتحاد الكتاب والصحافيين الفلسطينيين في الضفة الغربية؛ كاتب منتج يركز على المقالات والروايات المستوحاة من الفلكلور؛ نشر أكثر من 30 مجلداً شعرياً وكتباً أخرى، بما فيها جدل الوطن (بيروت، 1976)، أغاني العمل والعمال في فلسطين (بيروت، 1977)، البطل الفلسطيني في الحكاية الفلكلورية (1979) وآخر أعماله البشار المنديل عن لغة السيطرة والمقاومة في ظل العولمة والاحتلال الإسرائيلي (عكا، 2004)؛ مدير تحرير الصحيفة الأسبوعية الفلسطينية The Jerusalem Times، وكيل مساعد في وزارة الثقافة الفلسطينية، توفي بتاريخ 2 تشرين الاول/ اكتوبر 2013.
