AL-KHATIB, NABIL (1962-)

Born in Hebron on 19 Nov. 1962; attended Nablus Secondary School, graduating in 1980; received a Certificate in Russian Language from the Minsk Institute for Foreign Languages, Byelorussia in 1981 and an MA in Journalism (1986) from Byelorussia State University, Minsk; returned to the West Bank and worked as Nablus-area correspondent for Al-Fajr newspaper, Jerusalem, as well as translated books from Russian into Arabic during 1986-87; continued his studies and earned a PhD in Philology from Byelorussia State University in 1991; from 1991-95 filmed/contributed to several documentaries; founded Al-Balad Press Institute in Ramallah in 1992, serving as its Director until 1994; works as professional trainer in the field of media since 1993 and as freelance media consultant since 1996; was a Board member of the Jerusalem Film Institute from 1993-Sept. 1996; worked as Assistant Professor of Journalism at Birzeit University from 1994-96; served as Acting Director for the Media Program at Birzeit University from 1996-99 and co-founder of the Center into which it developed; worked as Correspondent for the Middle East Broadcasting Center (MBC), Jerusalem, from March 1997-Sept. 2002; Board member of the Popular Arts Center since 1997; was Director of the Media Institute at Birzeit University from Sept. 1999-March 2002; member, Counsel of the graduate studies program in Democracy and Human Rights (2000-02); Board member of Bisan Center for Research and Development since 2003; Bureau Chief of MEN (Middle East News), Palestine/Israel, and Executive Editor of Al-Arabiya news channel since July 2004; regularly publishes articles in local papers.

الخطيب، نبيل (1962 - ) ولد في مدينة الخليل عام 1962؛ خريج مدرسة نابلس الثانوية عام 1980؛ حاصل على شهادة في اللغة الروسية من مؤسسة منسك للغات الأجنبية Minsk Institute for Foreign Languages، عام 1981، وعلى شهادة الماجستير في الصحافة 1986 من جامعة Byelorussia State University ؛ عاد إلى الضفة الغربية وعمل مراسلاً لمنطقة نابلس في جريدة الفجر، القدس، وترجم العديد من الكتب من اللغة الروسية إلى اللغة العربية (1986-1987)؛ أكمل دراساته وحاز على شهادة الدكتوراه من Byelorussia State University عام 1991؛ صور وساهم في تصوير العديد من الأفلام الوثائقية خلال الأعوام (1991-1995)؛ مؤسس ومدير مؤسسة البلد للصحافة في رام الله عام 1992 وبقى يدير المؤسسة حتى عام 1994؛ مدرب مهني في مجال الإعلام منذ عام 1993 ومستشار إعلامي حرّ منذ عام 1996؛ عضو في مجلس إدارة مؤسسة القدس للأفلام Jerusalem Film Institute خلال 1993 - أيلول/ سبتمبر 1996؛ أستاذ مساعد Assistant Professor في الصحافة في جامعة بيرزيت خلال (1994-1996)؛ قائم بأعمال مدير برنامج الإعلام في جامعة بيرزيت (1996-1999) وأحد مؤسسي مركز الإعلام في الجامعة؛ عمل مراسلاً لمركز إذاعة الشرق الأوسط في القدس Middle East Broadcasting Center (MBC)‎ خلال الفترة (آذار/ مارس 1997 – أيلول/ سبتمبر 2002) عضو وقنصل برنامج الدراسات العليا في الديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان (2000-2002)؛ رئيس مكتب أخبار الشرق الأوسط، فلسطين/ إسرائيل، والمحرر التنفيذي لقنوات الأخبار العربية منذ تموز/ يوليو عام 2004؛ ينشر بشكل منتظم مقالات في الصحف المحلية.
