KHOURY, RAMZI (1946-)

Born in Jaffa on 8 Sept. 1946 to a Christian family; joint Fateh in 1967 and was put in charge of the media offices in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon from 1968-69; received a BA in Business Administration and Accounting from the Arab University in Beirut in 1972; was elected Sec.-Gen. of the GUPS in Lebanon from 1970-74; in 1975, was appointed as commander for the Military Camp of the Martyr Abu Sha’ar, which was responsible to recruit and train students who wanted to join the fedayeen; went on to study Economics and Political Science at Sofia University, Bulgaria, graduating with an MA in 1975 and a PhD in 1978; returned and worked at Chairman Yasser Arafat’s office in Beirut from 1978; left for Tunis with the PLO leadership in 1982, and worked there as a close aide to Arafat until May 1994, when he returned to Palestine; was assigned to establish two headquarters for Arafat, one in Gaza, the other in Jericho; served as personal representative to Arafat and was sent on his behalf on various official missions to Europe and Africa; in 1996, became Deputy Sec.-Gen. of the President’s Office; was also appointed by Arafat as a committee member for Christian Churches affairs and as member of the presidential committee responsible to prepare for the Bethlehem 2000 events; was member of the special committee in charge PLO-Vatican relations; was appointed by Pres. Mahmoud Abbas in June 2005 as acting head of the Palestinian National Fund in Amman.

خوري، رمزي (1946 - ) ولد في مدينة يافا عام 1946؛ انضم إلى حركة فتح سنة 1967 وأصبح مسؤولاً عن مكاتب الإعلام في مخيمات اللاجئين الفلسطينيين في لبنان خلال (1968-1969)؛ حاصل على شهادة البكالوريوس في إدارة الأعمال والمحاسبة من الجامعة العربية في بيروت سنة 1972؛ انتخب سكرتيراً عاماً لاتحاد الطلبة الفلسطينيين في لبنان خلال الأعوام (1970-1974) عين قائداً للمخيم العسكري للشهيد أبو شعار الذي كان مسؤولاً عن تجنيد وتدريب الطلاب الذين رغبوا بالانضمام إلى حركة الفدائيين؛ التحق بجامعة صوفيا، بلغاريا لمتابعة دراساته العليا، تخرج وحصل على شهادة الماجستير في الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية عام 1975، وعلى شهادة الدكتوراه عام 1978؛ عاد وعمل في مكتب الرئيس ياسر عرفات في بيروت من عام 1978؛ ثم غادر إلى تونس للعمل مع منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية كمساعد مقرب للرئيس عرفات حتى أيار/ مايو عام 1994 عندما عاد إلى فلسطين؛ كلف بمهمة تأسيس مقريين رئيسيين للرئيس عرفات، واحد في غزة والآخر في أريحا؛ ممثل شخصي لعرفات وأرسل بالنيابة عنه للعديد من البعثات الرسمية إلى أوروبا وإفريقيا؛ وفي عام 1996، أصبح نائب سكرتير عام مكتب الرئيس؛ عينه الرئيس عرفات عضواً في لجنة شؤون الكنيسة المسيحية وعضواً في اللجنة الرئاسية المسؤولة عن التحضير لمشروع بيت لحم 2000؛ عين عضواً في اللجنة الخاصة المسئولة عن علاقات منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية مع الفاتيكان؛ عينه الرئيس محمود عباس في شهر حزيران/ يونيو 2005 قائماً بأعمال رئيس الصندوق الوطني الفلسطيني في عمان.
