MALLOUH (ABU SHARIF), ABDUL RAHIM (1954-)

Born in Jaffa in 1945; became refugee to Jiflik in 1948; attended the Jiflik UNRWA school; moved to Kuwait in 1963; joined the PLA in Baghdad in 1965 and continued his studies in the evenings; participated in the creation of the PFLP in 1967; got injured in the battle of Karameh in March 1968; was close to Mustafa Az-Zabri, who made him a military commander in 1972; PFLP politburo member from 1973; was detained in Jordan in 1977-1978; in 1982, became PFLP commander of the forces defending Beirut; PFLP Deputy Sec.-Gen and non-participating PLO Exec. Committee member from 1991; one of nine PLO Exec. Committee members who released a statement rejecting the Oslo II Agreement on 4 Oct. 1995; was allowed by Israel to return to the West Bank in 1999; became head of the PFLP’s Political Dept. in 2000; stood for elections to the post of Sec.-Gen. after the assassination of Zabri in Oct. 2001, but was defeated by Ahmed Sa’adat; remains PFLP deputy Sec.-Gen; was arrested in Ramallah in June 2002 by Israeli forces and transferred to Ofer Detention Camp; was charged with financing the resistance, membership in a “terrorist organization”, and involvement in the assassination of Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze’evi; was sentenced to seven years in jail, in addition to two years on parole.

ملوح، عبد الرحيم (1945 - ) ولد في يافا عام 1945؛ لاجئ إلى الجفتلك في منطقة الأغوارعام 1948؛ درس في مدرسة الجفتلك التابعة لوكالة الغوث؛ انتقل إلى الكويت عام 1963؛ انضم إلى جيش التحرير الفلسطيني في بغداد عام 1965 وأكمل تعليمه في دورات مسائية؛ شارك في تأسيس الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين عام 1967؛ جرح في معركة الكرامة في آذار 1968؛ عضو مكتب سياسي للجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين؛ نائب رئيس الجبهة الشعبية وعضو في اللجنة التنفيذية لمنظمة التحرير الفلسطينية منذ عام 1991؛ سمحت له إسرائيل بالعودة إلى الضفة الغربية عام 1999؛ رئيس الدائرة السياسية التابعة للجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين عام 2000؛ شارك في الانتخابات بمنصب الأمين العام بعد اغتيال مصطفى الزبيري (أبو علي مصطفى) في تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2001 فاز بالمنصب أحمد سعادات؛ فأصبح نائب رئيس الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين؛ تم اعتقاله في حزيران/يونيو عام 2002 من قبل السلطات الإسرائيلية وإعادة إرساله إلى معسكر عوفر الصحراوي؛ أمضى سبعة أعوام في المعتقل إضافة إلى عامين في مطلع العام 2007.
