Youth Symposium

Fostering Young Palestinian Jerusalemites Active Citizenship Towards Meaningful Civil & Political Participation

At the conclusion of the project in 2024, a youth-led symposium on the topics explored in this project was held.

The symposium – titled JERUSALEM YOUTH: 2024 AND BEYOND – addressed the various obstacles and challenges that Jerusalemite youth encounter in their efforts to play an active role in their society. It examined the social, political, economic, and institutional barriers that hinder their engagement, including restrictions on movement, limited access to quality education and employment opportunities, and the broader socio-political constraints affecting their daily lives.

Beyond identifying these challenges, the symposium explored practical strategies to empower young people, equipping them with the tools and opportunities needed to shape their future actively. Discussions centered around enhancing civic engagement, strengthening youth participation in social and political life, fostering leadership skills, and creating platforms for youth to voice their concerns and influence decision-making processes.

The symposium took place on 17 February 2024 at the Dar Isaf Al-Nashashibi, Sheikh Jarrah, Jerusalem.
