Born in Beit Jala in 1900; left to Latin America in 1912 and studied there; was elected mayor of LaRomana in 1924 and was a member in the Higher Central Committee of the government; also served as editor-in-chief of La Provencia, a weekly cultural and political newspaper in LaRomana; returned to Bethlehem in 1930; in 1936 formed the National Committee of Beit Jala as well as an armed group to defend Beit Jala; was elected mayor of Beit Jala in 1944, serving in that post until 1951; was elected member of the Jordanian Upper House in 1950 and elected deputy of the Jordanian Parliament in 1957; served as principal of the Jerusalem Swedish Society and of Ar-Rai’ As-Saleh Swedish School, Bethlehem area, from 1960-88; died in 1988.
