Born in Jerusalem in 1929; educated at the Ibrahimieh College and St. George’s College in Jerusalem; studied General Medicine at the AUB, graduating in 1953; returned to Jerusalem and worked as a doctor from 1953-71; co-founder and Director of Al-Maqassed Charitable Society in Jerusalem from 1955-66; was a member of ANM; formed, together with Bahjat Abu Gharbiyyeh and Ishaq Al-Duzdar, the Civilian Resistance Committee in Jerusalem in May 1967; was elected twice as member of the Arab Municipality in Jerusalem until it was dissolved by the Israeli occupiers in 1967; founder of the PLF after 1967; was deported by Israel for his PLF activities in 1971; lived in Kuwait, where he wrote about the Palestinian struggle; independent member of the PLO Central Council; moved to Amman after the 1991 Gulf War; published his biography under the title Our Sun Will Never Set (Arabic, 1988); runs his private clinic in Amman.
