Born in Palestine in 1948; studied Fine Arts at the National School of Fine Arts in Damascus, graduating in 1971; then moved to France, where he lives since 1980, and enrolled at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris from 1980-82; held a number of solo exhibits, incl. at the Square of the Palais des Papes in Avignon, Paris, at Darat Al-Funun in Amman (1996), and the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris (1997); also participated in many group exhibits, most recently at the Contemporary Art Biennale, Mitry-Mory, France (2004) and the Chikyudo Gallery in Tokyo, Japan (2004); won the Second Prize of the Cairo Biennale, Egypt, in 1986, and the First Prize of the Cairo Biennale in 1996.
